What's it all about?

A 3-day festival of experimental music, sound and performance. This year we've pulled in a clutch of artists to create a series of events that each explore different aspects of music that doesn't quite fit any given category.

What this requires of you

An open mind, an interest in things that don't fit into the normal, given categories, and to be in Glasgow between the 15th and 17th Feb 2008. Not much else. Well, let's be honest; you'll need a ticket. But we've made them real cheap: a mere tenner for a day or 25 quid for the whole lot. But then that's not much; it's cheaper than last year.

Call 0141 565 1000 or visit www.thearches.co.uk to book your tickets, find out where the Arches is, how to get there, accessibility and the like.

Thank you

Many thanks to all our supporters.

Where to stay

If you're needing accommodation in Glasgow during the fest, we have some ideas.

Personal Space

Walking to work, buying groceries, cleaning the toilet, sipping a pint at your local boozer..... it's the mundane little everyday things/ situations in life which shape who we are and which (in)directly influence what we do/create.

So what is it that makes Glaswegian noisemakers make their noises?

This year we've invited a handful of artists with strong ties to Glasgow to take us to the places in & around the city which they feel influence them & their art.

Nacht Insecten

Thursday 7th - 19:30 - Meet in the Arches foyer
Saturday 16th - 00:30 - INSTAL CLUB at Stereo as part of KMVSNI

Like thousands of others, Ruaraidh Sanachan travels round the city by tube everyday with his lugs constantly wired to his personal stereo. It's in this situation that we'll be tuning into Nackt Insecten's disembodied spectral howls and heavyweight locomotive drones.

Usurper Thursday 7th - 20:00 - Lobey Dosser statue, Woodlands Road Saturday 16th - 23:45 - INSTAL CLUB at Stereo

When not playing minisculist free-squeals with Ali Robertson, Usurper's Malcy Duff churns out some of Scotland's most OUT comics. In tribute to one of Malcy's biggest influences, Glaswegian cartoonist Bud Neill, the Usurper brothers will be jamming live at the site of Bud's Lobey Dosser statue on Woodlands Road.

Blood Stereo Thursday 14th - 18:00 - Greater Easterhouse Supporting Hands
Friday 15 - 00:30 - INSTAL CLUB at Stereo

The town of Blackburn lies between Glasgow & Edinburgh. In the 1960s the town's population more than doubled due to the influx of emigrating Glaswegians. Years later the town spawned avant-wrongdoers Karen Constance & Dylan Nyoukis AKA Blood Stereo. We'll be heading to the Garthamlock area of Glasgow to witness some free-gob & slobber in the 'hood that birthed Clan Nyoukis.

Kylie Minoise Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th

30 x 5 minute performances for an audience of one, an Arches dressing room. Book your slot at the Arches Box Office.

It ain't easy being angry! Lea Cummings spends countless nights backstage at various venues working himself into a ball of harsh-noise energy before unleashing his rage on Joe Public. Thirty lucky Instal punters will have the opportunity to experience Kylie's pre-match aggro workout one-on-one in the darkness of an Arches dressing room.

Richard Youngs Sunday 17th - part of GOLDEN CHERRY BALL

Whether entertaining pals, watching the box, lazing around, or jamming wigged-out celestial music, the livingroom is where the majority of us do most of our living. Same goes for musical chameleon Richard Youngs. Both his creative and family life are focussed in the room that many of us consider the centrepiece of our lives. So what happens when Richard's Glasgow living room collides with one of Matt Valentine's Vermont farmhouse shindigs? Find out on Sunday evening at Instal. Expect wonderful things.
